Barbour Beacon Brand refers to the infamous lighthouses of South Shields in the North East of England, recently made popular by the To Ki To collaboration which thrives on inspirational and imaginative design. The Barbour Tokihito Jackets are purposely over engineered taking over 11 hours to produce one product, these designer jackets give off the impression of functionality when in reality they are more casual.
Each Barbour Jacket in the Tokihito collaboration provides a plethora of features, designed to represent the functionality behind the traditional workers jacket. The Barbour Tokihito Fishermans Jacket displays all the expected functionality expected in a fishermans jacket however made purposely for the casual wearer and not intended for actual fishing use.
Barbour Beacon Brand will be extending its collaborations in the future and expect to hear of a lot more of exciting new designs and concepts, Tokihito Yoshida is only one of the steps to prove the expert craft behind the Barbour Beacon legacy.
Barbour have created an interesting video outlining the production process for the Barbour x Grenson shoes collection. Their official Youtube channel is at Barbour Official and they have a few interesting videos to have a look at.
Barbour x Grenson
Barbour have teamed up with leading UK shoe outfit Grenson for their upcoming intruiging footwear collection this season. The fusion of two of Englands finest producers of outerwear and footwear promises to be one of the most exciting in a long time. Both manufacturers have been creating and shipping products around the globe since the 1800’s. Their innovative ideas behind their products have assisted their longevity in the clothing market for this amount of time.
About The Shoes
The shoes are hand crafted in Northampton in a painstaking, time consuming process. The result is a high quality handmade shoe/boot made from premium leather and finished with exquisite detailing throughout. Barbour and Grenson aren’t producing this collection to make money. They are more expensive than a normal pair of Grensons but the manufacturing time and materials used are just covered by the cost. They are doing it simply to generate a bit of coverage around the globe for the two brands.
We will in future feature certain styles of these shoes in more depth showing close ups when we get our hands on them. The boxes and shoe bags that they come packaged up in are particularly appealing with a very vintage look and feel to it. Keep your eyes peel Barbour fans for further news
We were watching The Cincinnati Kid last night and it got us thinking about the inspiration behind the Barbour x Steve McQueen collaboration again. So we did a bit of googling and found this moodboard which helped create the collection. It makes us really look forward to the cooler weather despite this heatwave we’re having at the moment. Chad McQueen described Steve’s style as “Classic, elegant, cool and timeless” and we completely agree. The detailing and prints are so thought about and the jackets are truely life time collectors pieces.
